Widgets
How do I put a verse on my Home Screen?
Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen until the icons jiggle, tap the + in the top corner, search for Bishara, then choose a size and tap Add Widget. To set its topic and theme, touch and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget. Bishara also walks you through this the first time you open it.
How do I put one under my clock, on the Lock Screen?
Touch and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, tap the Lock Screen itself, then tap an empty widget slot and pick Bishara.
Can I add more than one?
As many as you like, on both screens, each with its own topic and theme. Widgets are free and there is no limit on them.
My widget is showing the same verse all day.
That is the free pace: the verse turns over once a day. Premium changes it to every 12, 6 or 1 hours. If your widget has not changed in several days, open Bishara once to let it refresh, and email us if it stays stuck.
Reminders
How do I change how many reminders I get?
Open Settings in Bishara and set the number and the hours they may arrive in. Free gives you 3 a day. Premium raises the ceiling to 12.
My reminders stopped arriving.
Open the iOS Settings app, find Bishara, tap Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications. If they are already on, check whether a Focus or Do Not Disturb schedule is holding them back. Still nothing? Email us and say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on.
Premium
What is free and what is paid?
Every verse, prayer, reflection, theme, app icon, widget and wallpaper is free, and stays free. Premium changes two things: the verse turns over every 12, 6 or 1 hours instead of once a day, and you can receive up to 12 reminders a day instead of 3.
How do I cancel?
You cancel with Apple rather than with us. Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Bishara, then Cancel Subscription. It keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for.
I paid for Premium and it is gone.
Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with, then open Settings in Bishara and tap Restore Purchases. If it still does not come back, email us the date of the purchase and we will sort it out.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles every refund for App Store purchases. Sign in at Apple’s report a problem page and choose the purchase. Tell us as well if something went wrong, so we can fix what caused it.
The Scripture
Which Arabic translation is this?
Two of them, both public domain: the Van Dyck translation and the old Jesuit translation of 1876–1880. Bishara starts with the one that matches the church background you gave at setup, and you can switch whenever you like in Settings.
I found a mistake in a verse.
Please tell us. Send the reference and what is wrong with it, and the correction reaches everyone in the next content update. A wrong word in Scripture is the one bug that goes to the front of the queue.
Is the app itself in Arabic?
The Scripture is. The app around it is in English, so that reading a verse in the language you grew up with does not mean navigating menus in a language you may read more slowly.
Your phone and your data
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to. Your favorites and your choices stay on your iPhone.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The whole library ships inside the app, so a plane or a basement changes nothing. Read the privacy policy for what does and does not leave your phone.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Bishara is on iPhone only today.
Read the terms and conditions or the privacy policy.
